Heigh Ho its back to work I go!

Tomorrow I am back to work, which bums me out and excites me all at once! At any rate. Today our desk came. So nice to have a place for the files, printers, and shredder. No more keeping the important papers in the china hutch. Hurrah! Thank you all for your nice emails about how thinks are looking, means a lot to me!

Only a few things left to do then its on to the yard. Oye. Happy Tuesday!

Oh what a difference a drape makes...

I am a big fan of silk drapes. I think they add luxury to a room. We do have shutters throughout the house, but I love the extra layer of warmth this adds to the look of a room. We put them in the guest room (should be done Friday), the dining room, and our bedroom into the bathroom for privacy when and if needed. I am in love with each set. I am amazed that we have been able to use almost everything from our old place and only had to buy a few pieces of furniture.

Last room will be the family room. We need the couch and media center to show up in about a month and that's all she wrote. Then we just live!

Living Room-one couch from done!

The living room just needs the other brown couch to show up, should come on Friday, and its all done! We plan to add a few toy bins and let the kids watch movies and play while grown ups get to watch the news in the family room. The Wii and games will also go here. Hopefully we don't have any Wii accidents ;-). We want to make sure all rooms are usable and comfortable.

The matching couch will go on this wall.

Today, Bathrooms!

We got the pictures hung in the Powder Room and in Annie's bathroom. Hers needs some accessory love but that will have to wait until next weekend. Love how they both are looking! Only one day of PTO left, think we can get it all done? I think YES!

The Green Machine

That's what I have nicknamed our new lawnmower, for, well, obvious reasons. It was so cute to watch Adam mow his lawn for the first time. Wonder how long he will think it's cute ;-). Not a lot done today as I was gone for the AM, but we did get the mirror mounted over the mantle. Only 2 more days until I'm back to work. Alas.

I thought I was done dating?

Today I went friend dating. You can call it a Mommies Group but at the end of the day that is what you are doing. And I got 3 numbers! Never did that well in a bar before. ;-)

I went out to the Iron Horse Mothers Club for the San Ramon, Danville, Pleasanton moms. It was the welcome brunch for new members and it was great. About 50 women showed up and I got the chance to really talk to about 8 of them. Of the 8 I really hit it off with 2 of them. One lives about 5 minutes from me, and the other in Danville (about 10 minutes). Both women I had a lot in common with and I left feeling great about my new community.

They have all sorts of field trips and sub clubs for the mommies. Working moms club, book club (yay) playgroups, mommies night out etc. I already have my first "date" with Annie and a little boy named Jamison.

On my way home I saw our new neighbors just back from Costco. I met them a few days ago. They just moved here from Arizona. The husband went to Davis and they have two 19 month old twins. We are having them over in 2 weeks for dinner.

All in all, for as nervous as I was to move, I have lived here 7 days to the day, and made about 10 new friends if you count all the great neighbors. Not too shabby. Not sure why I was so nervous, but it kind of felt like the first day of school in a way.

Adam is in the garage putting together an edger and putting gas in his brand new mower. I think he feels like a mans man out there, its pretty cute. I hope he doesnt cut anything important off his body.

Happy Sunday!

Entry way done

I love a warm entry into a house. Very pleased how this turned out. See Uncle Todd, I told you I had a plan ;-).

Bath Time!

This weekend has been as relaxing as it has been busy, which is always nice. Last night Adam and I sat outside and looked at the stars which are beautiful here. Listening to the crickets and just relaxing.

Today I had to forgo the Kite festival with Lisa, Kerren, Shannon and kiddos to run over to Redwood shores to return a carpet cleaner and buy a couch. No where near as much fun, and I'm so sorry to have missed, but really trying to get everything done before returning to work next week.

Today I met some more new neighbors, this week I met 3 new ones. One of them has a 15 year old daughter Madeline who babysits, SCORE. And the other family just moved here from Arizona and have twin 19 month old babies. SCORE!

Tomorrow I am off to the welcome brunch for my new Mommies group. There are about 30 new members out of about 600 moms. I ended up meeting the Co-President through QuinStreet and she is fab and I can't wait to meet her in person after our phone conversations. I hope that everyone has had a great weekend.

A special Happy Birthday to Jayden. How on earth she ended up 9 already we will never know, but we love her oodles!

After all the hard work Annie enjoyed her bath in her new tub!

Very productive!

This weekend we got a ton done! Only about 6 more things to hang. The dining room is done sans the silk drapes from our old place I would like to hang on either side of the windows, hopefully we will get to that next weekend with my dads help.

At first I thought that I wanted a more formal dining set, but after Adam and I discussed we wanted all the rooms in our house to be very usable space, and once we got our set in, I just loved it.

Very happy with the progress, and thrilled that all of the leaves fit in my table, we can comfortably seat 8 and you can walk the whole way around the table, which if you had dinner at our old place you know was not quite possible.
