A Little Curious

Sometimes it's just the simple things in life....

Annie's First Kiss?!?

This was taken about two weeks ago, I just haven't had the time to get it uploaded. I think Annie is a very good kisser although she is very aware that I disapprove of her kissing any boys! In any event, she's got a good technique going here.

Books

Annie is finally into doing more with books than eating them. She loves to look at the pictures and listen. And recently, started cracking up at a few of her favorites. It's heaven! I loved books as a kid. I still love children's picture books now.

I can remember in 3rd grate, Mrs. Robinson, I brought in my whole library of books and set them up and ran a mini library out of the classroom. How nerdy is THAT? But I loved it. I made little cards that went in the back of the books like in a real library so I could keep the card and keep track of who checked them out.

I used to aspire to write children's books, but alas, no single story has come to mind that is truly excellent. Maybe one day.

Annie will have many many many books. She will fall asleep with them hidden under the covers. She will love the crispness of a new one. She will read the same ones over and over until she has found every detail hidden in the pictures of the glossy pages. She will play teacher with them and read them to her dolls. And if she doesn't do all of these things I will disown her. Kidding. But I suspect she will do them as kids learn to love what they are exposed to.

Because I have so many Mommy friends I decided to post a review of some of our favorites every so often. If you are reading this and have a favorite that is not one of the classics, leave me a comment, I love an undiscovered book! Here are the two that Annie loves:

This is a new one that we got at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago. Annie CRACKS UP at the pictures of the little girl. It is all about what "good manners" would be if you were different animals. For example, if you were a pig it would be good manners to be muddy and stink. You get the idea. Its a great read. Only complaint is that some of the words are randomly is CAPS which I think might be confusing for a kid learning to read. But, all said, I give it 5 stars!

The next one is The Pout-Pout Fish. My brother found this one for Annie before she was born. Everything rhymes and it's an easy read. I find after you read it though it gets stuck in your head, for days at a time. The illustrations are fantastic. Lots of good details which will make it a good read over and over and over.

Anyhow, those are my favorites. Be sure to email me yours!

Happy Reading.
