When I asked Annie on Monday if she wanted to go to school she said "hold on, let me get my shoes" I will never forget that as long as I live. She does look an awful lot like her Daddy but she has a lot of Mommy's personality too.
When we got to school today she took approximately 2.5 seconds to make her first friend, Dakota, who she called "koda" Koda seemed to be in charge of the joint, so Annie seemed to be in good hands.
We were supposed to do an hour where we sat in the class room with her. Well let me tell you, she could have cared less about us, and we spent about 5 minutes and were off. I am sure once she realizes this is 4 days a week until after lunch, and not just an hour here and there she will have a moment, but hey, for now all is well.
When did she cry? When did she cry HYSTERICALLY? When we left of course. That couldn't have been a better sign.
I am looking forward to meeting the families in her class. We have made a lot of good friends in a surprisingly short amount of time here in the East Bay, I was happy to have 3 emergency contacts that lived 5 miles from school, and hopefully we will make more good friends with her class. I am already very excited to get involved. So many great new adventures to be started.
I am sure the next few weeks will be a time of transition and work, but for a first day the kid could not have been happier. And that, makes Mommy & Daddy so very very happy.
